China Airlines Flight 611 - Scratching The Surface

China Airlines Flight 611 - Scratching The Surface

China Airlines Flight 611 (CAL 611, CI 611, callsign Dynasty 611) was a regularly scheduled flight from Chiang Kai-shek International Airport (now Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport) in Taoyuan to Hong Kong International Airport in Hong Kong. On 25 May 2002, the Boeing 747-209B disintegrated in mid-air and crashed into the Taiwan Strait just 20 minutes after taking off, killing 225 people. The cause of the crash was improper repairs to the aircraft 22 years earlier. The accident was particularly disturbing to the public because the Taipei to Hong Kong route was and is to this day one of the most heavily-travelled routes on Earth; it is so profitable that it is even referred to as the "Golden Route."

Aviation Disasters - China Airlines Flight 642

China Airlines Flight 642 crashed when landing in Hong Kong during terrible weather (tropical storm winds and rain). Very little footage exists of the crash, so I added a few photos in to show the aftermath. I am very new to video editing (this is my first project), and as such the film is very basic and straightforward. I used Windows Movie Maker to edit and arrange the material. NOTE: There seems to be some contention among viewers as to the airline depicted. It was technically Mandarin Airlines, but that airline is the subsidiary of (owned by) China Airlines, and as such, the media and official reports all refer to it as China Airlines flight 642.

Air Disasters: Impossible Landing (Season 3 Episode 4)

--- ALL NEW EPISODES WILL BE UPLOADED ON DAILYMOTION: http://www.dailymotion.com/AirDisasters --- In July of 1989, halfway through its journey from Denver to Chicago, United Airlines Flight 232 is rocked by an explosion. Its tail engine is gone. Its entire hydraulic system has shut down. The crew is working with no flight controls, no slats, and no flaps...but there is still hope. One of the passengers on board happens to be an expert on landing DC-10s, but even he may be powerless to save the crippled plane. No commercial jetliner has ever been successfully landed without hydraulics. The team struggles against impossible odds to try to save the lives of all 296 people on board.
