Thought I would share with everyone the difference between high hip & low hip deadlift enjoy!
Check out The Alpha Body! http://outalpha.com/downloads/the-alpha-body/ Many people are saying that high hips on the deadlift is the way to go. However, this advice works mainly for those who have long arms, or for people who are built for the deadlift. Someone like me who has short arms will end up being at an angle that is inefficient for pulling, thus turning the deadlift into a stiff-legged deadlift. In addition, even if you're not short, I would still recommend that you drop the hips low because it FORCES you to use leg drive. Unless you're an advanced powerlifter who has mastered leg drive with high hips, I would learn how to use leg drive first before resorting to your optimal leverages. Otherwise, you will turn one of the best exercises for strength and mass into an ugly stiff-legged deadlift, which will result in lower back pain. Brandon Lilly swears by the low hip approach, and this didn't stop him from deadlifting over 800lbs. Use the leg drive, activate the quads, glutes and hamstrings, and you will be pulling some serious weight. Prevent lower back rounding vid - http://goo.gl/QY99X6 NOTE - Many have said they don't know how to contract their hip flexors. For this, just sit in a chair, then bring your knees up to your chest. Your hip flexors will perform this motion, hold this position if you need to to make sure you feel it. You can also march in place in slow motion, bringing your knees up as high as possible to feel the contraction. From there, it should be easier for you to now know how to contract your hip flexors in general. Then once it comes to deadlifting you want to contract those same muscles to pull your hips back.
