Is A Lifetime Florida Fishing License Worth The Money? Here Are The Numbers.

The lifetime Florida fishing license. Certainly not cheap, but then again, fishing in general isn't cheap... But the question has come up multiple time, "Is purchasing a lifetime fishing license in Florida a good deal? And at what age does it no longer make sense?" That is what we answer in this video. To see the full blog post (including all screenshots on the cost analysis of the Florida lifetime fishing licenses), click here: http://www.saltstrong.com/articles/lifetime-florida-fishing-license/ In this fishing license analysis, we compare all of the Florida lifetime license options (freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, hunting, and the sportsman license) against the cost of the annual licenses and permits. The conclusion was it is always a no-brainer to invest in a lifetime fishing license for kids and anyone under age 40. Once you get above 50, the numbers aren't as exciting, and once you hit age 60, it makes more sense to buy a 1 or 5 year license (depending on your age). Currently in Florida, anglers over 65 do not need a fishing license. Where to buy a Fishing License in FL & how much do they Cost? (102) Michael A Haber Criminal Lawyer

“Where can I buy a Fishing License in FL and how much do they Cost?” The easiest place to buy a Fishing License is online. You can go to “myfwc.com” and buy a license online or you can use the FWC’s website to locate a Fishing License “dealer” in all of 67 of Florida’s Counties. Florida residents can buy 1 year, 5 year or Lifetime Salt or Freshwater fishing licenses and non-residents can by annual, 3 day or 7 day permits. Prices vary not only depending upon the term but also upon their nature. For example, you can buy a Freshwater or a Saltwater or a Combination Fishing License. Or you can tack on Hunting if you wish. And then you can add “specialty” licenses for such things as lobster, tarpon, deer, turkey, use of a crossbow... the possibilities are virtually limitless. Personally I have a Lifetime Saltwater Fishing License with a Lobster Endorsement and I have had it since 1996, and as soon as I got a social security number for my now 11 y/o son I bought him a lifetime license. I don’t remember what I paid for mine in ‘96 or his in ‘05 but today either a Lifetime Salt or Freshwater Fishing license costs $301.50 for adults and $126.50 for kids 4 years or younger or $226.50 for kids who are aged 5-12. Contrast that to annuals which are $17 or 5 years which are $79. And that is for FL residents. Non-residents will pay more. At Michael A. Haber, PA "it's all about reasonable doubt"! Do I need a Fishing License to Fish in Florida? Unless you fall into an exemption, whether you are a FL resident or a visitor, and whether you are actively or passively fishing (meaning if you attempt to take fish or if you even help or assist in the take, even setting bait on hooks for others) you are required to have a valid fishing license on you whenever you are fishing in FL. There are many exemptions (and you can find them neatly listed at “myfwc.com/”) but among the most common are: Resident children (under 16); Resident Seniors (over 65); Anyone fishing on a for-hire vessel, meaning either a guide, charter or party boat, which has a valid vessel license ; and Those who are recreationally fishing off of a pier that has a valid pier saltwater fishing license. The type of license that you need will depend upon the type of fishing that you do, but, as a general rule, you need the appropriate type license to keep your catch (a saltwater fishing license for saltwater and a freshwater fishing license for freshwater fishing) and if you catch a fish that you are not licensed to catch then you must immediately release any such species.
