Alabama's 1967 Spring Practice

In April 1967, five black athletes walked on to the University of Alabama football team at the Crimson Tide's spring practice. They were: Halfback Arthur Dunning, Mobile, Sophomore Fullback Melvin Leverett, Prichard, Sophomore Wide Receiver Andrew Pernell, Bessemer, Freshman Guard Dock Rone, Montgomery, Freshman Halfback Jerome Tucker, Birmingham, Sophomore Rone. Tucker and Pernell dressed out for the 1967 A-Day game. None of the players made it onto Alabama's varsity roster.
